Lisbon has been a break from “traveling” in the traditional sense. No more toting bags, no more hostel accomodations for my entire trip. Kind of a sad realization. However I know from this point on I will at least be able to speak English or garbled French for the rest of my trip. I have no idea who I am going to speak French with. Maybe the French people, who knows. Lisbon may be a much cooler tourist spot than I give it credit for, but I have been more in a lounging, resort type mood. Something about cheap beer, good books, and a pool that drain all the “go get em” out of you.
Just finished my epic novel Pillars of the Earth, read it. And just got back from Belem yesterday, go there. Go there even if it costs 750USD to fly here, just so that you can experience the Pastiches at the country´s most famous pastiche bakery. I already forget the name, but I am sure I can figure it out for you. Today I wait for Jess to get out of class at noon so I can head to Cascais with her and her law school buddies to experience an incredible beach day in Portugal. I will surely take pictures, but there is something about beaches that seem eerily the same. Sand, water, sun = Irish Sun Burn. Im getting there, the farmers tan is gone and my dad´s ethnicity (Irish) is slowily eroding to my mom´s ethnicity (Italian).
Two more nights of sleeping on the ground, although I can not complain, I figured on spending all my earnings before I left Europe and it seems I will have enough left to buy a computer and do some traveling in the States. Well at least I can charge it and pay it off sometime soon. I have yet to truly tap the potential of a little square of plastic that buys anything you want even if you don´t have the money for it. What a strange concept.
Interesting who reads your crap from all over the world isnt it ? You should have stopped in germany

I don’t know why I trust your tastes so much, but I bought The Pillars of the Earth for my train ride tomorrow. I’ll let you know what I think. I’m excited for your return to the States!
